Panther Alums Set To Tackle The Boston Marathon4/18/2008 - Dot (Bunnell) McMahan and Nate Weiland, formerly of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's and women's cross country and track and field programs will compete at the Boston Marathon this weekend in Massachusetts. McMahan, a member of the Hanson-Brooks racing team, will compete in the U.S. Marathon Olympic trial on Sunday, while Weiland will run in the 112th Annual Boston Marathon on Monday. Senior Holly Nearman and junior Erin Magargee of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee have been named to the Horizon League Women's Cross Country Academic All-League Team, the league office announced today. For Nearman, this is her second academic all-league selection in cross country while she also earned the honor for indoor and outdoor track and field last season. Senior Holly Nearman placed 12th to lead the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's cross country team at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Saturday afternoon. Nearman crossed the line in 21:27.78 to earn all-region honors with the top regional finish in school history. She also put herself in position to earn a bid to the NCAA Championships.
