Jena Berg joins the Panthers after playing two seasons at the University of Tennessee. She will sit out the 2008 season and then have two years of eligibility remaining.

The 5-foot-10 Berg played in 29 of 30 matches as a freshman at Tennessee, appearing primarily as a defensive and serving specialist before eventually seeing time at setter. Then, during this past season, she played in 28 of Tennessee's 29 matches as the team's primary setter, collecting over 1,000 assists.

While a prep standout at Westosha Central High School, Berg helped her team to a pair of state titles and was a three-time all-state performer. Following her senior season, she was ranked as the 33rd-best senior in the country by PrepVolleyball.com. She was named the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Female Athlete of the Year following her senior year of high school.

"It is great to have Jena return close to home and join our program," head coach Susie Johnson said. "She is a tremendous all-around player who can play at a very high level at every position on the floor. She has the ability to make our team and program better and should play a big part in helping us continue our success."
